Salon des inventions

The International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva is back for its 50th edition, which will be held from 9 to 13 April 2025 at Palexpo, Geneva. An unmissable event in the innovation calendar, it will welcome more than 825 exhibitors from 35 countries, all keen to unveil their inventions and technologies. CERN will be among this year’s participants, organising three exceptional afternoon shows at the Swiss Pavilion: on Wednesday, 9 (at 11.30 and 13.30), Saturday, 12 (at 13.00 and 15.00) and Sunday, 13 April 2025 (at 12.30 and 14.30). These events will be part of a captivating programme of science shows organised for the public, specially designed to arouse curiosity and inspire the younger generations.

CERN’s show, Journey through a Detector, will plunge audiences into the fascinating world of particle physics. Like detectives on the trail of invisible clues, physicists use ultra-sophisticated detectors to reconstruct the tracks of particles that are impossible to observe directly. The show is interactive, allowing the public to follow the particles’ journey through the different layers of the detectors and discover how these instruments can reveal the invisible.

The show, which will be in French and accessible to children and adults aged 12 and over, will take you right to the heart of the technologies used at CERN to explore the mysteries of the Universe.

Throughout the year, a wide variety of science shows, lab workshops, films and interactive exhibitions await you from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the CERN Science Gateway! Covering everything from the state of matter to levitation and electromagnetism, these activities are a fun way to find out about the technologies used at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the impact they have far beyond the domain of research.
