At Point 4 of the LHC in Échenevex, special equipment accelerates the beams circulating in the machine.

At Point 4 of the LHC in Échenevex, special equipment accelerates the beams circulating in the machine. Each time the particles pass through this point – which they do 11 000 times per second! – they receive a big accelerating ‘kick’, gradually bringing them to a velocity close to the speed of light.
