After a break forced by the pandemic in 2020 and the introduction of a hybrid format in 2021, CERN is hosting three physics Masterclasses on site in March 2022, thus allowing around fifty students from local schools to experience the job of a particle physics researcher.

The day begins with an introduction to CERN and particle physics. Classes are then welcomed to CERN's S'Cool LAB where students are invited to study actual particle tracks observed in CERN's detectors, with the help of our scientists. At the end of the day, as in an international research collaboration, they share their results during a videoconference (in English) with other institutes participating in the program on the same day around the world.

Each year in February and March, the international physics Masterclasses bring together nearly 13,000 secondary II students from 60 countries in about 225 universities and research centers. This program is organized at the Technical University of Dresden within the framework of the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG).
