On the evening of Friday, 11 September, CERN will be participating in the 5th edition of “La nuit est belle !” event. Thanks to this initiative and its various editions, turning off or reducing the intensity of public lighting in the middle of the night has become commonplace.
Convinced of the power of culture to raise awareness and change practices, the founding and organizing partners of this initiative decided to place this 5th edition under the theme of “the culture… of the night”.
CERN will join this initiative by switching off the lights all evening and night, of the Globe, the Science Gateway Portal, Gate E, the roads and car parks on the Meyrin and Prévessin sites, and the SPS and LHC sites, except where lighting is required for safety reasons.
CERN is committed to continuous improvement of its energy performance.
