Prévessin Site

CERN’s second-largest site, straddling the communes of Prévessin-Moëns and Saint-Genis-Pouilly, was constructed in the 1970s at the same time as the SPS accelerator – a 7-km ring that seemed huge at the time! This site is much less built up than the Meyrin site. Its facilities include control rooms, workshops, storage areas and meeting rooms, as well as offices, Restaurant 3 and a cafeteria.

Notable buildings
CCC CCC (CERN Control Centre): It's from this futuristic room filled with dozens of screens that CERN’s engineers and technicians control the Laboratory's accelerator complex.
AMS AMS (Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer) control room: This control room receives data from the detector located furthest away from CERN – one that is docked to the International Space Station, which orbits the Earth at an altitude of 400 km. The AMS experiment is searching space for traces of primordial antimatter or the mysterious dark matter that is thought to make up most of our universe.
774 Building 774: This building, inaugurated in 2015, boasts an innovative design. Seen from above, its shape resembles the Greek letter pi, which is also the symbol used to represent a particle known as a pion. Located immediately opposite the CERN Control Centre, Building 774 houses the offices of the Control group and the management of the Beams (BE) department. It also features laboratories, a 115-seat auditorium, a cafeteria, two large meeting rooms and a reception room. The exterior is covered with solar panels based on CERN technology, providing heating for the building in the winter and cooling in the summer.
866 Building 866: This building is home to CERN’s third restaurant, which serves several hundred customers every weekday. A bank (Crédit Agricole) and a branch of the French post office (La Poste) can also be found here.
