Schools@CMS 2017

One the occasion of a winter break, the Large Hadron Collider is accessible again for a (very) short period of time.

Take this opportunity to see the CMS detector 100 m. underground! Twenty-two meters long, 15 meters high and 14'000 tons heavy (twice the weight of the Eiffel Tower): the view on the CMS experiment is breathtaking!

Local schools from Pays de Gex and Geneva canton (primary and high schools) are invited to a 1h (for groups of 12 people and less) to 1h30 visit (for groups larger than 12 people), including 30 min. underground (excluding ride time).

For schools who would be interested, the new Microcosm exhibition is free of access to visit before or after the CMS tour. An extra 45 min. should be planned in this case.

Please note that:
- CMS site has no canteen nor offers meal facilities
- CERN does not organise transport, this falls to the schools
- For reasons beyond our control, the detector might not be accessible at the last minute. Should this occur and in any case, we will advise you as soon as possible and we will try to find a solution.
